Polar Bear Capital of the World

Churchill, popularly known as the "Polar Bear Capital of the World". lies on the harsh rocky coast of Hudson Bay. The spectacular aurora borealis lights up the long sub-arctic nights. The main attractions for visitors to Chruchill are the polar bears. Visitors come from all over the world to see the polar bears. They can safely view polar bears from specially modified buses known as tundra buggies.

Every autumn, hundreds of polar bears migrate through the Churchill area, giving travelers the rare chance to see these magnificent animals up close. During summer, the nearby waters come alive with thousands of friendly beluga whales, making it another spectacular wildlife season. Churchill is also one of the best places in Canada to witness the Northern Lights, especially during the long, clear winter nights.

Beyond its wildlife, Churchill offers rich Indigenous and Arctic heritage. The Itsanitaq Museum showcases Inuit artifacts and history, while the Prince of Wales Fort and Cape Merry reveal stories from the region’s fur trading past.

Despite its small population, Churchill is globally renowned for its unique wildlife, stunning landscapes, and unparalleled opportunities for adventure.
