It is the first museum in the world solely dedicated to the exploration and promotion of human rights. The museum was officially opened on September 19, 2014.
The museum's building is an architectural marvel designed by Antoine Predock. The design features a stunning combination of glass, steel, and limestone, symbolizing the Canadian landscape and the concept of transparency and openness.
The museum offers a range of immersive and interactive exhibits that explore the history, development, and ongoing struggle for human rights in Canada and worldwide. The exhibits cover various themes, such as Indigenous rights, LGBTQ+ rights, women's rights, and the fight against discrimination.
