Thunder Bay Museum
Located in a beautifully restored courthouse and police station, the Thunder Bay Museum is the city of Thunder Bay's main museum. With six galleries on three floors, its exhibits cover the history of the city and region from earliest times to the near present. This includes the story of the region's first inhabitants who arrived here over 10,000 years ago, through the fur trade period when Fort William was the headquarters of a mighty empire, to the era of great industrial and urban growth that characterized the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Walk down a recreated street scene dating from the 1890s to 1930s. View period films in our theatre. Second and third floor exhibits cover such topics as military history, local music history, furniture, and art.
