The Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village

The Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village is a living history museum located in Pincher Creek, Southwest Alberta, Canada. The museum is dedicated to preserving the history and culture of the pioneers who settled in the area in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The village is named after John George "Kootenai" Brown, a well-known pioneer and founder of Waterton Lakes National Park, which is located nearby. The museum covers an area of approximately 5 acres and features over 20 buildings that have been carefully restored and preserved to provide visitors with an authentic experience of pioneer life.

The buildings at the Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village include a general store, a blacksmith shop, a church, a schoolhouse, and several log cabins. Visitors to the museum can take guided tours of the site and view demonstrations of pioneer crafts such as spinning wool, candle making, and butter churning. There are also exhibits showcasing the history of the area, including displays of pioneer tools, clothing, and household items.

The museum hosts a range of events and activities throughout the year, including a fall fair, Canada Day celebrations, and a Christmas market. These events offer visitors the opportunity to experience the traditions and culture of pioneer life through live music, dancing, and interactive exhibits.

The Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village is open from May to September, with varying hours depending on the season. Pets not allowed.
