Echo Dale Regional Park, located just a 15-minute drive west of Medicine Hat, Alberta, is a popular destination offering a variety of recreational activities for visitors of all ages. This expansive park features two man-made lakes, a historic farm, camping facilities, and numerous trails, making it an ideal spot for both relaxation and adventure.
Swim Lake and Swim Centre:
The Swim Lake is a favorite among visitors, boasting a sandy beach and clear waters perfect for swimming. Surrounded by large grassy areas, it's an excellent place for picnics and sunbathing. The adjacent Swim Centre offers food, drinks, and essential swim items. Washrooms and change rooms are also available for convenience. Please note that the Swim Lake operates seasonally, typically from late May to early September, and may close if temperatures drop below 15ÂșC.
Historic Farm:

For those looking to extend their stay, Echo Dale Campground offers 10 unserviced campsites located near the boating and swimming areas. Amenities include a camp kitchen with a wood-burning stove (bring your own wood), a large shared fire pit area, picnic tables, and pit toilets. The campground operates from May to October, with reservations available online.

The park features numerous multi-use trails suitable for hiking and mountain biking. These trails connect Echo Dale to the city of Medicine Hat via the Heritage Trail Network, offering approximately 190 kilometers of paths that access open areas, playgrounds, off-leash dog areas, and sports fields. Cyclists and pedestrians can enjoy scenic views of the South Saskatchewan River and the surrounding coulees.
