Canyon Ski Resort, situated in Red Deer County, Alberta, is celebrated as the province's largest non-mountain family ski area. Spanning 80 acres, the resort offers 23 runs catering to various skill levels, supported by six lifts, including a triple chair, a double chair, two T-bars, a platter tow, and a tube tow.
The resort's terrain is diverse, with 26% designated for novices, 30% for intermediate skiers, 30% for experts, and 14% mixed-use areas. The longest run extends 1,291 meters (4,235 feet), and the vertical drop is 146 meters (480 feet). A comprehensive snow-making system covers 95% of the area, ensuring consistent conditions throughout the season.
Beyond skiing and snowboarding, Canyon Ski Resort features a Terrain Park and a Super Pipe for freestyle enthusiasts. The Snow Tube Park, equipped with a dedicated tubing lift and multiple groomed lanes, is a popular attraction for families and groups.
In addition to winter sports, the resort has expanded its offerings with the Canyon Adventure Park, which includes Alberta's first Alpine Coaster. This mountain coaster provides an exhilarating ride over 1,300 meters, with a vertical drop of 440 feet, allowing riders to control their speed up to 40 km/h.
The main lodge at the base of the ski runs offers amenities such as a cafeteria and a cozy lounge, providing a comfortable space for visitors to relax.
