Goderich Lighthouse: A Historic Beacon on Lake Huron.

The Goderich Lighthouse, located in Goderich, Ontario, is the oldest lighthouse on the Canadian side of Lake Huron. Built in 1847, this square stone tower stands atop a bluff, offering panoramic views of the lake and the town's harbour. Originally constructed to guide ships safely into the harbour, the lighthouse has become a cherished historical landmark.

Erected in 1847, the Goderich Lighthouse was established to aid navigation for vessels entering the busy port of Goderich. Over the years, it has witnessed significant events, including the devastating storm of 1913, which led to improvements in its structure and lighting system. In 2003, the town of Goderich purchased the lighthouse from the Crown for a symbolic sum, ensuring its preservation for future generations.

Situated at 1 Harbour Lane, the lighthouse offers breathtaking views of Lake Huron, especially during sunset. Visitors can access the site via a staircase from the beach or by driving up to the bluff. The surrounding park area is equipped with picnic tables, making it a perfect spot for family outings and leisurely afternoons.

Goderich, often referred to as "Canada's Prettiest Town," boasts a range of attractions beyond the lighthouse. The town's unique octagonal Courthouse Square features shops, eateries, and hosts a vibrant farmers' market. The nearby beaches, including St. Christopher's Beach, offer opportunities for relaxation and recreation.
