Wilderness Adventures in Every Season.
Monts-Valin National Park (Parc national des Monts-Valin) is a magnificent mountain wilderness located north of Saguenay, offering some of the most spectacular year-round outdoor experiences in Quebec. Known for its impressive peaks, pristine lakes, and vast forests, the park is a true paradise for hikers, wildlife enthusiasts, and winter adventurers alike.
Rising more than 900 metres above sea level, the Monts-Valin range dominates the landscape and provides sweeping views of the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. In summer, visitors can enjoy hiking trails that lead to scenic lookouts, mountain summits, and hidden lakes. Popular routes include the Pic de la Hutte and Le Mirador, both offering breathtaking panoramas. Canoeing, kayaking, and fishing are also favorite summer activities within the park’s peaceful waterways.
During winter, Monts-Valin becomes a magical snow-covered wonderland, famous for its “Vallée des Fantômes” (Valley of the Ghosts) — a trail where trees are completely buried under snow and ice, creating surreal, ghost-like shapes. The park is a prime destination for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling, attracting visitors from across the province for its exceptional snowfall and winter landscapes. Well-maintained visitor facilities, including interpretation centres and rental services, make it easy for guests to explore safely in every season. Whether you seek mountain adventure, solitude, or simply a deep connection with nature, Monts-Valin National Park captures the essence of Quebec’s northern wilderness.
