The Royal Alberta Museum (RAM) is one of the largest and most popular museums in Western Canada. It is located in downtown Edmonton, Alberta, and showcases the rich history, culture, and natural heritage of the province. The museum is a favourite spot for both locals and tourists who want to explore Alberta's fascinating past and vibrant present.
Opened in 1967 and renamed “Royal Alberta Museum” in 2005, the museum moved to its new, modern location in 2018. The building features spacious galleries, interactive exhibits, and learning areas suitable for all age groups. It houses more than 2 million objects, covering areas such as archaeology, paleontology, Indigenous cultures, natural history, and human history.
One of the key highlights is the Indigenous Studies gallery, which shares the stories, traditions, and art of Alberta’s First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples. Another favourite is the Bug Gallery, where visitors can see live insects and learn about their roles in nature. The Children’s Gallery is a hands-on play area that makes learning fun for kids.
