KF Centre for Excellence – Celebrating Aviation in Kelowna.
The KF Centre for Excellence is a modern aviation museum and educational facility located at 5800 Lapointe Drive, near Kelowna International Airport in British Columbia. Opened in August 2022, this 60,000-square-foot building is designed to resemble an aircraft, with its structure made primarily of locally sourced wood. The design reflects the vision of Barry Lapointe, founder of KF Aerospace, who aimed to create a space that honors aviation history and inspires future generations.
Inside the Centre, visitors can explore two large hangars housing a collection of rare and historic aircraft, including the de Havilland Mosquito bomber and the restored Hawker Tempest MKII. The central exhibition area offers interactive displays that tell the story of aviation in the Okanagan Valley, providing an engaging experience for all ages.
The Centre is dedicated to promoting education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). It offers programs and workshops designed to inspire interest in aerospace careers among students and the community. Features like flight simulators and hands-on exhibits make learning about aviation both fun and informative.
